Video game adaptations have had a spotty history. While some adaptations, like Detective Pikachu or The Witcher, have received critical acclaim, poorer adaptations like Resident Evil or Monster Hunter are much more common.
Still, there’s a lot of reason to be excited for the upcoming adaptations of The Last of Us and Uncharted. Video games have evolved a lot in the past few years, to the point where it’s harder to deny them as a legitimate art form – and Uncharted and The Last of Us are at the crest of the wave. Both franchises have received critical acclaim and are well-suited for adaptations, with Uncharted’s blockbuster action playing out like a more high-octane Indiana Jones, whereas The Last of Us could well fill a “The Walking Dead” shaped hole in many people’s schedules with its combination of heartfelt storytelling and gruesome “zombie” action.
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has offered some updates on both adaptations, claiming that both are on track with Sony’s projections. This will likely come as welcome news to people who were afraid that either adaptation could be delayed. After all, a movie adaptation of The Last of Us was in the works as far back as 2014 with Sam Raimi and Maisie Williams.
However, we shouldn’t assume that this means we’ll get either adaptation imminently. Uncharted’s filming has been completed, but the editing is likely to take a while for what’s likely to be such an effects and action-heavy movie. As for The Last of Us, it hasn’t even entered full production, and no cast has been announced apart from Joel and Ellie.
Unfortunately, we’ll need to keep waiting to see how the adaptations will play out and whether PlayStation Productions will go down the route of Square Pictures, who produced one film before going bust. Still, it’s nice to know that, barring any further pandemic-related delays, we shouldn’t be getting any delays – at least, as it stands.

While the stand-off with the Night King was expected to be the climax of the last season, both the fans and the series creators were unsure about who they were going to have perform the killing.
Kit Harington always thought his hero Jon Snow would be the one to kill the leader of the White Walkers, and he wasn’t the only one.
Not only did many fans place their bets on the Stark bastard, but apparently he was told he would be the one to defeat the Night King earlier on in the show.
“[Kit Harrington] expected it to go [Jon Snow’s] way, too,” said Maisie in an interview.
“He even said, ‘It was going to go that way. Someone told me in season three that I was going to kill the Night King,’” she recalled to the Hollywood Reporter.
However, Maisie didn’t want to be the one to break it to her co-star that he wasn’t going to be the one to do it in the end and decided it was better for him to find out for himself.
“And then, he read the script, and it was Arya the whole time,” she laughed.
Ultimately the actress believed “it would’ve been too obvious,” if they had Jon kill the Night King: “I’m glad that it was Arya, honestly. I think I had the best storyline of the final season,” she said.

Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams is back in front of the camera with a Cartier campaign
The dark, slicked-back hair and bare face of actor Maisie Williams throws us back to her unforgettable role as Arya Stark on the HBO fantasy drama Game Of Thrones. Dressed in muted monochrome tones and edgy biker boots, the watch on her wrist is effortlessly cool, much like herself. She’s shot with Cartier for her latest role as the brand ambassador of the new ‘Pasha’ watches. On set with photographer Craig McDean, she selects two timepieces to wear: a bold 41mm steel dial, followed by a smaller and dressier 35mm pink gold and diamond number.
Time is now
“I find the watch empowering to wear as it reflects my confidence as a woman,” explains the young star. At just 23, she’s got a decade of work behind her, including eight unforgettable GOT seasons. “Success is entirely personal; it’s never about the status which comes with the work that you’ve achieved. If you’re doing something that you find unfulfilling, you’ll never see it as successful,” she says wisely. It’s been over a year since the finale aired, and Williams hasn’t stopped working. This year alone she’s released two films—The Owners, a psychological thriller set in the 1990s and The New Mutants, where she plays a Marvel superhero. She also bagged the six-episode dark comedy Two Weeks To Live. “Success is a positive mental attitude. You take from the world what you put in. I’m currently manifesting my happiness and success.
